Comcast NBCUniversal has announced its intent to create a new publicly traded company ('Versant') comprised of most of NBCUniversal's cable television networks, including USA Network, CNBC, MSNBC, Oxygen, E!, SYFY and Golf Channel along with complementary digital assets Fandango, Rotten Tomatoes, GolfNow, GolfPass, and SportsEngine. Job Description

Our streaming video SDK is at the forefront of technology, leveraging modern video codecs, adaptive bitrate streaming, low-latency streaming, and support for live streaming. We ensure seamless playback across various platforms, including web browsers, smart TVs, gaming consoles, and streaming media devices. This compatibility allows us to reach a wide audience and provide exceptional streaming experiences regardless of the device or operating system.
Video Player Technology team is looking for an exceptional leader to improve and evolve our video playback efforts and practices. Join us as we embark on challenging solutions and brainstorm the future of streaming video technology. Your primary focus will be building highly functional teams with a great focus on scalable development practices in the JavaScript world. This is an excellent opportunity to influence the development of the solution that powers well-renowned brands such as Peacock, SkyShowtime, and more. Together, we will shape engineering culture, solve process problems, and create an extraordinary environment that brings productivity and team velocity to the next level. By being part of building a premium streaming service we are going to solve the challenge of support for a very wide range of video streaming-capable devices.

Key Responsibilities

  • Help teams navigate uncertainty, ambiguity, and lack of context.
  • Inspire and initiate deliberate actions in the teams to keep the processes and projects in healthy shape.
  • Nurture consistent collaborative practices across the teams.
  • Create cross-team communication opportunities for the teams.
  • Create an environment for forming good habits around communication and engineering practices.
  • Manage and mitigate risks in team structure, team-level bandwidth, and roadmap.
  • Collaborate to drive the SDK vision and navigate the execution of it.
  • Help teams to get to the next level in terms of productivity and communication.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience (3+ years) in a leadership role in OTT or similar video-related space
  • Bachelors degree in computer science or related field or equivalent experience
  • 5+ years of experience in technology roles with hands-on engineering experience
  • Demonstrated experience in evaluating technological requirements to make informed and strategic decisions
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment while creating order and structure for a team
  • Advanced knowledge with JavaScript and application development
  • Advanced knowledge in video technology and hardware capabilities
  • Experience building SDK solutions and serve internal clients
  • Willingness to travel in North America and Europe for work-related activities
