The ideal candidate is someone who has a strong foundation in building responsive, high-quality frontend applications using React and React Native. They should have a solid understanding of VanillaJS, be comfortable working with strongly-typed languages like TypeScript, and have experience interfacing with GraphQL APIs. Familiarity with modern frontend frameworks such as Next.js and an awareness of DevOps practices (e.g., Kubernetes, relational databases, or Big Data tooling) are also valuable.

The Insurance team is in charge of creating, maintaining and supporting insurance products in Utility Warehouse. We currently have more than 110k live policies across multiple Insurance products, and the percentage of UW customers who hold an insurance policy with us keeps growing! Home Insurance, Boiler and Home Emergency Cover are meant to give peace of mind with our customer's most important asset! We have a small and mighty team across front-end and back-end and use a range of technologies, with event-driven architecture as our core.

We deliver progress. What you’ll do and how you will make an impact.

We are looking for a collaborative engineer who can contribute to both new feature development and the ongoing evolution of our existing insurance products, while working closely with backend engineers to define and maintain contracts within an event-sourced architecture.

What you’ll do

• Design and implement new user-facing features across web and mobile platforms using React and React Native.

• Collaborate with backend engineers to define API contracts and ensure seamless integration within an event-sourced system.

• Maintain and extend existing frontend codebases with attention to performance, accessibility, and scalability.

• Support both internal teams and external users through thoughtful UI/UX and reliable interface design.

• Contribute to architectural decisions and technical planning for new lines of business within the Insurance domain.

• Write clean, maintainable, and well-tested code with strong consideration for developer experience and system reliability.

• Participate in code reviews and knowledge-sharing sessions to help grow and strengthen the frontend team.
