The role

We are looking for a Software Developer to work closely with our users and prospects, understand their challenges, and ship things quickly to test & learn. You will develop new features quickly, so we can push them to our users, get feedback, and understand what we need to build next. You should be biased towards pace and experimentation and excited about solving the big challenges in healthcare. We are building using TypeScript and Angular, using Google's Firestore as a backend.

The Tech

Isla is an Angular app deployed to Firebase, supported by Cloud Functions, Pub/Sub and Docker via Cloud Run. Connectivity with our clients is handled via the Google Healthcare API, in addition to private VPC access via the NHS HSCN network.

Who We Are

We are creating a new operating model for health care where the majority of patients can be managed asynchronously and remotely. The Isla platform is the technology which enabled this shift safely and at scale. Isla enables the secure submission of photos, videos, digital PROMS, consent forms and sound recordings by patients and clinicians. Remote submissions empower patients to monitor their own conditions safely at home and clinician capture allows patients to be baselined and to build up a view of patient progress.

Since going live in our first pilot sites over 3 years ago, Isla has scaled quickly and is now working with 33 Trusts across the NHS and have launched our first international project in Trinidad and Tobago. Isla is an intuitive and highly scalable solution which can be deployed across multiple specialties and can support patients right across their healthcare journey.

The Team

As we begin to build our Engineering team, you will shape the way the early platform is developed. You will work directly with our other Engineers and Founders to ensure you're developing professionally, as well as happy, motivated, and understand the wider business & health context that we are working in. The people around you will be super smart and motivated, and expect a lot from you. That will be exciting for you.

Over the next 12 months you will:

  • Contribute to Product strategy
  • Design and build the platform that will allow our clients to look after their patients
  • Interact directly with the users you are building for, to understand their challenges and deliver what they need

Requirements

  • You're a proactive Engineer who enjoys collaborating with all areas of the business and our customers directly
  • 2 to 5 years of professional experience as a Developer
  • Passionate about solving complex problems in a team of brilliant people
  • A very good understanding of Angular and experience improving performance in Angular applications
  • Good working knowledge of RxJS
  • Experience with unit testing front end applications using jest or jasmine
  • It would be advantageous if you have previous experience working with Google Cloud Platform / Firestore or other NoSQL databases
  • A keen focus on quality, and personal ownership of the work that you do
  • Solid understanding of git
