About Momence

Momence is a next-gen booking and communications platform for experience-based businesses, such as a yoga & pilates studios, gyms, dance schools, salons & spas, golf facilities, swim schools, etc. We help over 1,500 businesses with scheduling & payments, communication, and automation of their business backend. We also have a customer-facing Momence app, where tens of thousands of customers book their wellness experiences every month. At Momence, we are bringing modern-day software into the growing experience economy, that is currently highly underserved by modern software.

We’re a remote-first company, backed by Y Combinator (Summer 2020); moving quickly and growing rapidly. While our team operates remotely worldwide, our Prague-based team meets regularly in our Prague office 2–3 times a week.

We are looking for a Frontend Developer with experience in React Native or React (ideally both) who wants to contribute to the development of a modern product in a US startup with a Czech-based engineering team.

About the team

Mobile engineering builds the core application that helps small businesses get discovered and create magical moments. From scheduling to payments, marketing to payroll; we’re building a product that makes it easy for people to grow their customer base while we handle the complexities of tailoring our software to fit their business needs. 

Providing a mobile front door that is easy to use, works reliably, and drives revenue for our users is a cornerstone of our engineering strategy. Our iOS and Android app has over 100,000 daily active users and is a key part of our platform’s UX. It is widely used and highly rated by users.

What will you do?

You will be a key part of our frontend team, working on both mobile and web development in an early-stage US startup with a Czech-based engineering team. Your main focus will be on designing, building, and maintaining our user-facing mobile applications for both iOS and Android, but you will also have the opportunity to contribute to the frontend platform that serves both mobile and web teams.

Your role will involve:

• Developing and maintaining our mobile applications using React Native.
• Contributing to our web frontend using React, if you have experience in this area or would like to expand your skills.
• Improving and evolving our frontend platform, making it scalable and maintainable for both mobile and web development.
• Collaborating closely with the UI/UX team to deliver a visually polished and user-friendly interface.
• Iterating quickly on new product features, helping shape the product with a strong product mindset.
• Following best practices in engineering, ensuring high-quality code, good documentation, and efficient workflows.
• Engaging with backend services when necessary (understanding API structures, database interactions, and backend logic).
• Working in a highly flexible and autonomous environment, where you’ll have the freedom to influence both technical and product decisions.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys both mobile and web development, wants to work on an impactful product with a growing user base, and values the autonomy to shape their work within a relatively small but experienced team.

What are we looking for?

• You have at least 5 years of experience in one of the following areas:
• Mobile development for iOS/Android using React Native.
• Web development using React.
• Ideally, you have a combination of both skill sets.
• You’re comfortable with occasional backend work (you understand the basics of APIs, databases, and backend services).
• You have a product mindset and can iterate quickly with us.
• You don’t need everything planned out but can come up with your own solutions and defend them.
• You have an eye for UI/UX and can collaborate with the UI team to build visually polished and user-friendly interfaces.
• You are comfortable working in English.
• You have a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or equivalent professional experience.
• You are a team player, eager to learn new things, and enjoy sharing knowledge with others.
