Energy Aspects currently have an exciting opportunity available for a Frontend Engineer to join the Technology team based out of our Kolkata office.

The successful candidate will contribute to a growing suite of applications that serve our research, data, and multimedia content to clients. This role will have an immediate impact to the quality of service offered to both internal research teams and clients. You will work across our data application stack building React web applications from scratch on top of APIs or transferring previously built applications into React web applications.

The Technology team is responsible for the delivery of Energy Aspects’ core technology products. You will collaborate with other developers and UX/UI designers to build and style professional, premium-looking data applications, while also working very closely with our Data and Research teams on functional requirements.

Duties

  • Work closely with the Data team to contribute to the development of internal- and client-facing data applications
  • Contribute to new feature development across our applications and microservices
  • Translate UI/UX design wireframes to actual code, with an eye for good design yourself
  • Support bug fixes on a continuous basis
  • Adding accessibility and performance improvements
  • Improve the QA testing by adding tests to the features and bug fixes

Requirements

  • Extensive experience with HTML, CSS/SCSS, JavaScript
  • Excellent knowledge of modern JS libraries/frameworks - React.js, Next.js and/or Vue.js.
  • Experience consuming REST APIs, webhooks
  • Previous experience working in a development environment with Agile practices, CI/CD pipelines
  • Git version control experience
  • Excellent communication skills

Desirable skills

  • Working knowledge of Python in a web development context (Dash, Flask, Django)
  • Experience with AWS or Google Cloud Platform
  • Previous experience with GraphQL
  • Experience with build tools like Webpack
  • Previous experience with automated test frameworks, e.g. Cypress
  • Previous experience with ELK stacks and managed observability platforms e.g. NewRelic
  • Experience with state management tools like Redux
  • Experience working across time zones, primarily London/Europe, within a global company
  • Experience working as part of a hybrid team alongside 3rd party vendors/contractors
  • An interest in commodities, energy, or financial markets; a background in a market intelligence business
