Job Purpose

The Node.js Developer will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining server-side applications and APIs using Node.js. The role requires collaboration with front-end developers, product teams, and other stakeholders to build scalable, high-performance, and secure applications. The developer will also ensure code quality, troubleshoot issues, and optimize application performance while following best coding practices and industry standards.

Job Overview

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain server-side applications using Node.js and Express.js.
• Build and optimize RESTful APIs and integrate with front-end applications.
• Work with relational (MySQL, PostgreSQL) and NoSQL (MongoDB) databases.
• Write optimized queries and ensure data integrity.
• Improve application performance through efficient coding and caching strategies.
• Identify and fix performance bottlenecks in backend systems.
• Implement authentication and authorization mechanisms (JWT, OAuth, Passport.js).
• Follow security best practices to prevent vulnerabilities (SQL injection, XSS, CORS).
• Write and execute unit and integration tests using Jest, Mocha, or similar frameworks.
• Debug and resolve issues to maintain application stability.
• Work closely with front-end developers, designers, and product teams to ensure seamless integration.
• Document code, API endpoints, and technical processes for future reference.
• Assist in deploying applications to cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Heroku, or DigitalOcean).
• Work with CI/CD pipelines and containerization tools (Docker) for automated deployments.
• Follow coding standards, conduct code reviews, and write clean, maintainable code.
• Stay updated with the latest trends and technologies in Node.js development.

Skills & Experience

• 1+ years of hands-on experience in Node.js development.
• Worked on at least one production-level Node.js project.
• Experience collaborating with teams using Agile methodologies.
• Frontend Basics: Understanding of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript frameworks (React.js or Vue.js) is beneficial.
• Databases:
  • SQL: Experience with MySQL/PostgreSQL, writing queries, and understanding database optimization.
  • NoSQL: Familiarity with MongoDB or other NoSQL databases.
• API Development:
  • Creating and integrating RESTful APIs.
  • Understanding of GraphQL is a plus.
• Node.js: Strong understanding of asynchronous programming, event-driven architecture, and non-blocking I/O.
• JavaScript & ES6+: Proficiency in modern JavaScript (ES6+) features such as async/await, promises, DE structuring, and modules.
• Express.js: Experience in building RESTful APIs using Express.js or similar frameworks.
