Hugo & Cat are looking for a React Lead to join their team to work on building out a basic content management UI for an existing client site. The client is looking to implement a simple editor interface on top of an existing Postgres database to allow content editors to update a set of modules on various pages of the site. It’s anticipated that requirements such as use of local storage will be required to manage some features as further development of the database is to be minimised where possible.

You will be working with both in-house and client teams including UX, QA, and Project Management.

Requirements

The right candidate will have:

  • A great knowledge of building performant client-side applications with React, OpenGraph and similar APIs
  • A good understanding of page-speed and client-side bottlenecks
  • Experience with SPAs and API driven sites, including merging changes from local storage

Skills and Experience

We’re looking for a strong mix of development and soft skills, and would expect you to be able to tick most or all of these boxes:

  • Excellent HTML5, Typescript, JavaScript and SASS/CSS3 experience
  • Extensive experience with React
  • Experience using React frameworks such as Gatsby or Next js
  • Experience using State management tools such as Flux or Redux
  • Experience with using CSS in JS libraries
  • Experience using Theme libraries
  • Experience of working with APIs
  • Experience using GraphQl
  • A good understanding of page-speed and client-side bottlenecks
  • Experience with CSS and JS animations to provide incidental highlights and interactions
  • Experience of component based builds and working within a component library such as Storybook, Docz or similar
  • Knowledge of Git and GitFlow
  • Experience working as part of a Agile Scrum / Delivery Team
  • An understanding of responsive design techniques for mobile, tablet and beyond
  • An appreciation of tooling such as npm, Gulp, Webpack, Azure DevOps
  • A good eye for design and a real passion for interactive design
  • A desire to uphold coding standards and ensure the project has a consistent build across components
  • An excellent ability to communicate your ideas and work with others to make them happen
  • Must be personable, friendly and work well in a team
  • Enthusiastic about the web and emerging web technologies
