Purpose of the role

To design, develop and improve software, utilising various engineering methodologies, that provides business, platform, and technology capabilities for our customers and colleagues. 

Accountabilities

• Development and delivery of high-quality software solutions by using industry aligned programming languages, frameworks, and tools. Ensuring that code is scalable, maintainable, and optimized for performance.
• Cross-functional collaboration with product managers, designers, and other engineers to define software requirements, devise solution strategies, and ensure seamless integration and alignment with business objectives.
• Collaboration with peers, participate in code reviews, and promote a culture of code quality and knowledge sharing.
• Stay informed of industry technology trends and innovations and actively contribute to the organization’s technology communities to foster a culture of technical excellence and growth.
• Adherence to secure coding practices to mitigate vulnerabilities, protect sensitive data, and ensure secure software solutions.
• Implementation of effective unit testing practices to ensure proper code design, readability, and reliability.

Join us as a Technical CMA Senior Frontend Developer – Angular at Barclays, where we are looking for a highly skilled Senior Frontend Developer with over 10+ Years of experience in designing and developing large-scale, high-performance financial applications. The ideal candidate must be hands-on with Angular, React, Java, MS SQL Server, Python, and CI/CD tools like Jenkins, and should have a strong understanding of authentication/authorization mechanisms. Experience in micro frontend architecture using Webpack 5 module federation is essential for building modular and scalable enterprise platforms in the Investment Banking domain.

To be successful as a Technical CMA Senior Frontend Developer – Angular you should have experience with:

• 10+ years of experience in frontend and full-stack development.

• Strong hands-on experience with Angular and React in enterprise applications.

• Proficiency in Java for backend integration and services.

• Experience working within Investment Banking or capital markets technology.

• Expertise in micro frontend architecture, especially using Webpack 5 module federation.

• Strong understanding of authentication/authorization frameworks and enterprise security protocols.

• Deep experience with CI/CD automation, particularly using Jenkins.

• Proficiency in SQL Server, including performance optimization and data modeling.

• Working knowledge of Python for scripting and integration tasks.

• Agile/Scrum experience with tolls like Jira and Confluence.

• Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to lead technical initiatives.

Some other highly valued skills may include:

• Experience with real-time data processing, WebSocket’s, or event-driven design.

• Familiarity with containerization (Docker/Kubernetes) and cloud platforms (AWS, GCP)

• Exposure to domain-driven design and microservices architecture.

• Design and build advance, secure, and scalable frontend application using Angular and React.

• Architect and implement micro frontend solution using Webpack 5 module federation, enabling independent deployment and team ownership across features.

• Collaborate with backend developers to integrate RESTful APIs and Java-based services.

• Develop and enforce secure authentication and authorization flows (e.g., OAuth2, JWT, SSO)

• Implement and manage CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins, automating builds, testing, and deployments.

• Write and optimize SQL queries in SQL Server to support business logic and data presentation.

• Use Python for automation tasks and backend integration where needed.

• Lead Agile development practices, participate in ceremonies, and provide guidance and mentorship to junior developers.

• Drive technical discussions and contribute to architectural planning for scalable frontend platforms.
